As the second full day of the Olympics winds down I will say that the city has been surprisingly normal. Taxi drivers are wild as ever; retirees play cards and dance on the streets; the restaurants are still bustling. The long-anticipated chaos has yet to materialize. Of course the two days have been over a weekend, but it felt like a normal weekend in town. Tomorrow will be interesting, when Beijing becomes both a working city and an Olympic host city. I have tickets to a tennis match in the morning, but right now it's pouring rain, and rain is in the forecast for tomorrow as well. We'll see what happens!
